Greetings! We wanted to share with you a post written Ranjan Daniels who had been traveling and wanted to share some of the exciting conversations and encounters he has had with prospective students. Please see below from Ranjan's recent trip to Japan:
I was in Tokyo, Japan searching for public policy innovators. Japan has the 3rd largest Harris Public Policy alumni community outside of the US. We benefit by having a vibrant students and alumni from Japan. Our Japanese alumni include two members of parliament as well as a number of senior officials in the Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Japan.
I visited a number of government ministries and gained a better understanding of the policy and political landscape of Japan. I spoke with candidates passionate about addressing energy and environmental issues. I also met with candidates that are tackling the policy implications of an aging population which is driving innovation in healthcare and workforce development. Many of our Japanese prospects have 4-8 years of experience in government which adds a great deal to our classroom. We strive to expose students to a global policy experience that extends beyond the US and attracting emerging leaders from around the world helps us achieve this mission.
